A Salams alternative built around character, not photos
April 22, 2026 · 4 min read
If Salams (formerly Minder) felt like Tinder with extra filters, here's a different mechanic, character-first matchmaking with a real qualifier and women-first delivery.
Salams cleaned up the swipe for Muslims. The filters got smarter. The fundamental experience didn't change, and that's where many serious sisters and brothers stall out.
What we changed
- · No swipe. Auntie introduces you, in her own words.
- · A real qualifier. We say no to most applicants.
- · Women see first. Brothers only learn of a match if she says yes.
- · Photos are shared after a mutual yes, character-first, not face-first.
If you've already tried Salams and it didn't lead where you hoped, that's not a personal verdict. It's the design working as intended for a different goal.
